Program Description: The 15-credit, graduate-level Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Data Analytics for Public Policy is an educational program that provides students the opportunity to develop advanced skills in managing and analyzing large amounts of data and employing policy analysis frameworks to inform public sector decision-making. The program also provides students familiarity with the policy and governance issues raised by the use of new forms of data. To earn this certificate, students complete a required 3-credit course in the Data Driven Decision Making, and 12 additional credits of graduate coursework selected from a list of accepted courses. At least 9-credits hours of work must be completed in courses with a PAI prefix.
Students already in a graduate program can earn this Certificate concurrently with their master’s or doctoral degree. The Certificate may also be completed as an independent graduate program.
Admissions Information: Admission requirements are Identical to requirements for the Syracuse University MPA Program.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Assess ways data generated by emerging technologies can inform organizational decision-making and public sector challenges
2. Understand how to access and manage data generated by emerging technologies
3. Master and apply analytic frameworks and methods relevant for addressing public sector challenges
4. Understand public policy issues raised by expanding use of big data and algorithmic decision making as well as options for addressing these issues
Requirements
To earn this certificate, students complete a required 3-credit course in the Data Driven Management in Public Organizations, and 12 additional credits of graduate coursework selected from a list of accepted courses.
*At least 9-credits hours of work must be completed in courses with a PAI prefix.
