Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
1. Compare and contrast institutional and intercollegiate policy-based practices that affect work with intercollegiate student-athletes.
2. Analyze theories of development, issues of student-athlete diversity, and developmental challenges and opportunities in relation to the needs of student-athletes in higher education and college sport contexts.
3. Synthesize current research in intercollegiate sport, college student-athlete development, and organizational culture and change in higher education.
4. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the developmental, psychosocial, and emotional perspectives and needs of intercollegiate student-athletes.
5. Analyze policies and programs that impact intercollegiate advising and support practices based on current understanding of reform in intercollegiate athletics, student-athlete development, and institutional oversight.
Notes:
Upon acceptance to the proposed CAS, students will take at least one required course or program elective in consecutive semesters until program requriements are completed.
Students will maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in program courses.
