College of Law 2-3 credit(s) IrregularlyThis seminar explores four aspects of the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare. The first is the long history of advocacy for the federal government to declare health care a right and to provide public funding for all medical and hospital attention. The second will be a study of the contents of the ACA, attempting to understand how the legislation was conceived, written and passed. The third will be a study of the implementation of the law including the experience of the failed roll-out using the Internet. Finally, legal decisions arising from the law will be examined. This course can be used to fulfill the legal writing requirement.
