Note: Foreign Language Proficiency is required and, if not attained in high school (by passing a level three language class) or by passing a competency test, must be completed at the collegiate level either through one of Syracuse University’s four-credit 101 language courses or the equivalent as determined by the Department of Foreign Language and Literature. (Two semesters of American Sign Language meets this requirement.)
Minor in Exercise Science

Students pursuing major degrees in other program areas may enroll in a minor in exercise science. The exercise science minor requires 18 credits while the student maintains a 2.5 GPA or better. To be admitted into the exercise science minor, students must submit a petition to their respective advisor, the chair of the exercise science program, and to the assistant dean for academic and student services in the School of Education.

Time to Completion Requirement
The undergraduate minor in exercise science must be completed within five years of declaration if the student is enrolled in an undergraduate degree granting program.

Program Evaluation
The minor will be evaluated according to guidelines established by the School of Education.


Minor in Coaching

The coaching minor is designed for students who wish to coach in secondary schools. Coursework extends beyond the 13 credits required for the New York State Temporary Coaching License. Prerequisite: 2.0 grade point average.
